The Negotiated City is a pop-up workshop run by The Bartlett and Priestman Architects in Chongqing, China from 13th July to 20th July 2018.
博弈城市是由巴特莱特学院联合普林斯曼建筑设计事务所于2018年7月13日至7月20日在中国重庆开展的一个短期工作坊。

This year, The Negotiated City Workshop in Chongqing will focus on bridges. The course aims to augment the existing urban network and develop a living bridge that extends beyond infrastructure to become a destination as part of a new urban fabric. We are looking for new types of architecture and urbanism that will unlock the potential of bridges.
今年我们重庆的博弈城市工作坊将会聚焦于桥梁。开设此课程的目的在于扩大现有的城市网络，桥梁的延伸超越基础设施，变成新城市组织的一个新目的地。从而,寻找一种以桥梁形态的建筑和城市化。
丨Participants 参与者丨
The workshop is for students, practitioners and academics of architecture and related disciplines, who want to explore different design approaches in a collective experience.
本次工作坊主要是面向建筑学学生、从业者和及相关专业学者，帮助他们在团队合作中探索不同的设计方法和策略。
丨Methods and outcomes 方法和成果丨
Participants will start by looking at ideas of living/green/working/ cultural/vertical bridges from around the world. The group will then focus on existing or speculative bridges in Chongqing and propose individual conceptual and real design solutions.
The project will use sketching, analogue and digital drawings to explore narrative and emerging ideas. The final outcome will explore large-scale hybrid drawings/models as the main tool for communication.
参与者以各种形态的（生活/生态/工作/文化/垂直等概念）桥梁作为开始。 设计小组将把设计重点放在重庆现有桥梁上，并提出独特的概念方案和解决方法。
该项目将使用手绘和软件来探索建筑的叙事性和新兴想法。 最终成果将以大尺度的图纸和模型作为成果展示。

The cost of the workshop will be 650 GBP or equivalent RMB at the time of exchange rate.

The workshop is jointly run by Sabine Storp and Patrick Weber from The Bartlett, and Matthew Priestman from Priestman Architects London, Hong Kong, Chongqing.
本次工作坊主要运作是由来自伦敦大学巴特莱特建筑学院的Sabine Storp、Patrick Weber两位导师以及普林斯曼建筑设计事务所（伦敦，香港，重庆）的总监 Matthew Priestman。

Sabine and Patrick have been teaching at The Bartlett for the last 20 years. They are currently leading Research Cluster 11 on the Urban Design MArch programme. In their Living Laboratory, they are exploring how cities are made and inhabited, and how communities are formed. Their research looks into the non-conventional ways that residents are adapting existing housing and how small-scale interventions and self-build events can transform dysfunctional communities.
在过去二十年里，Sabine和Patrick一直在巴特莱特进行教学活动。目前，他们正在指导城市设计Research Cluster11 的硕士研究生，主要研究课题有：城市的建造与居住，社区的形成，居民非常规的居住方式、小规模改造和增建，以及如何改变功能失调的社区。
Matthew Priestman
Partner at Priestman Architects London, Hong Kong, Chongqing
Matthew is closely involved in the many urban questions of modern China through work on real projects with his practice Priestman Architects. Matthew also teaches in London, Hong Kong and Chongqing and organises events and workshops in China.
Matthew aims to tackle such questions as:
How do we make the city liveable whilst dealing with environmental, traffic and functional problems?
How do we enrich the public domain?

丨About Chongqing 关于重庆丨
Chongqing lies on mountainous inland terrain at the confluence of the Yangtse and Jialing rivers with a sub-tropical continental climate. It is a feisty, energetic, dense and rapidly changing city of 12 million people within a wider municipal area of 38 million.
Chongqing’s riverside is crossed by dramatic and iconic bridges which carry the crucial city-wide connections of roads, railways and metro lines. How can they be adapted for the human and how can they be extended as cultural and social components of the city?
在内陆多山地带，位于长江和嘉陵江的交汇处，有着亚热带大陆性气候。重庆是一个活跃的、精力充沛的、密集的并迅速变化的城市。重庆市人口3800万，主城区占有1200万。
重庆的河畔上横跨着很多极具标志性的桥梁，这些桥梁上有公路、城市轨道交通和铁路。 是城市至关重要的连接点。如何能使它们更人性化的被使用，有更多文化的和社会的功能延伸 ,这也是值得不断思考的问题。
